Edward M. "Mike" Allen, 74, died Feb. 15, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born March 17, 1932, in Hutchinson, the son of Edward H. and Maxine Taylor Allen. He graduated in 1950 from Chase High School and in 1957 from Fort Hays State College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1959, he worked for 30 years at Morton Salt Co., retiring in 1995, as the office service manager.
He belonged to the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Purple Heart.
On May 28, 1954, he married Roberta I. Halfast in Chase. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bob and his wife Nancy, Granville, Ohio, and Mike and his wife Jennifer, Olathe; a daughter, Kathy Colley and her husband Steve, Hutchinson; a sister, Patricia Laudermilk, Sterling; six grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Kim Biery presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.
