Obituary

Edward Cass, 83, died Jan. 6, 2016, at his residence in Wesley Towers Retirement Community in Hutch-inson. He was born May 28, 1932, in Bartlesville, Okla., the only child of Carl and Bernice (Beeman) Cass.

Ed, as he was known to his friends and family, spent most of his childhood in Tulsa, Okla. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1950 and then studied business at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1954. He served briefly in the Army, and later joined the Air Force, spending time stationed abroad in Vietnam, Thailand and Guam. He retired from the Air Force as a major. During his lifetime, he worked as a sixth-grade teacher and as a restaurateur, owning and operating the Horn & Buckle Steakhouse in Hutchinson. Ed was a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners football fan. He also had a love for bowling that began his senior year of high school and lasted throughout his adult life, culminating in achieving a perfect 300 game and a 22-strike streak.

Ed is survived by: two daughters and their spouses, Cindy and Mike Beerens of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Lesley and Wayne Rogers of Tulsa, Okla. He also leaves behind a rich legacy of nine grandchildren, Jordan Nisly, Erica Rizzio, Jarrod Nisly, Nickolas Rogers, Colin Nisly, Samantha Rogers, Shawn Beerens, Isabelle Beerens and Olivia Beerens; and three great-grandchildren, Desmond Nisly, Gavin Rizzio, and Amelia Nisly. He was preceded in death by: his parents and his eldest daughter, Tracy Nisly, who passed away in 2013.

Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Eldon Smith officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in a family plot at White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville, Okla. Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
