Elaine Marie McKenna, 90, passed away January 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Hospice House. She was born September 22, 1931 in Syracuse, KS to Abraham and Maymie (Guy) Klatt. Elaine graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1949. Following graduation, she worked for several years in Dr. Shook's Osteopathic office. She then began her career as the Human Resource Manager at Sears for many years, retiring in 1986. Post retirement, she was in charge of the First United Methodist Church kitchen along with being a Mary Kay Consultant.
She was very passionate about roller skating, spending many hours at the rink where she eventually met the love of her life, her future husband. Elaine was an accomplished bowler and member of the Hutchinson Bowlers' Hall of Fame. She was a member of Delta Theta Chi Sorority and First United Methodist Church. Her greatest love was her family. They were so precious to her, and she looked forward to all activities and gatherings with them.
On February 25, 1955, Elaine married Clarence D. McKenna at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson. They shared 66 years together.
She is survived by: husband, Clarence McKenna, Hutchinson; daughter, Debbie Thrasher (Mark), Hutchinson; son, Dan McKenna (Glynda), Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tiffany Gerken (Chris), Helena, Missouri, Trisha Dayton (Joe), Topeka, Megan McKenna, Galva, Kristen Beeghly (Derek), Hutchinson, Matthew McKenna, Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Teagen, Sullivan, Calvin, Felix, Ethan, Noah; sisters, Shirley McColm (Gene), Wichita, and Pat Krider, Westminster,Colorado; and brother-in-law, Richard McKenna (Isla), White Lake, MI.
Elaine was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Interment will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to Stan Kenton Christmas Carols at Trinity United Methodist Church or Hospice House, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
