Elda Sparks Powell, 94, died March 7, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was born June 22, 1913, in Pond Creek, Okla., the daughter of William Albert Sparks and Etta May Reid. She graduated from Pond Creek High School in 1930 and graduated from Salt City Business College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1951, she was an accountant in the business office at Grace Hospital and then Hutchinson Hospital, until retiring.
She belonged to the First Church of God.
On June 20, 1939, she married Elmer Powell in Anderson, Ind. He died Aug. 28, 1995.
Survivors include: two nephews, Gene Powell, Hutchinson, and Charles Hickok, Bethany, Okla.; and a niece, Alvena Stephens, Norman, Okla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Sparks, and a sister, Edith Hickok.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastor Oonie Cooper presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gable Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
