Obituary

Eldon Ray Bontrager, 89, of Hutchinson, died January 17, 2022, at his home. He was born on September 30, 1932, in Reno County, to William and Polly (Yoder) Bontrager.

Eldon graduated from Haven High School in 1950. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Eldon was a farmer, as well as a bus driver. He loved all things Allis -Chalmers. Eldon enjoyed building model airplanes and playing cards. He was always there to support his grandchildren for their sports and other events. Eldon was a member of Journey Mennonite Church.

On February 8, 1951, he married Phyllis Jean Hoth in Jefferson City Missouri. They shared 63 years before she passed away on July 22, 2014.

Eldon is survived by: daughters, Kimberly Bontrager, Burrton, Jeanne Peirce (Cameron), Hutchinson; grandsons, Connor (fiancée, Courtney Heinen) and Hayden Peirce; granddaughters, Samantha Rankin and Amanda Meek; brother, Larry Bontrager, Oregon; and his beloved dog, Charlie.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Phyllis; sisters, Barbara, Amy, and Roberta; brothers, Earl and Robert.

Funeral service will be, 10 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Journey Mennonite Church, Yoder, at the corner of Longview and Yoder Road. Burial will follow in Yoder Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Journey, Yoder with the family present.
