Eldon L. "Shelly" Shellito, 94, died May 17, 2016, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford. He was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Bellaire, to Charles and Ferne (Swallow) Shellito.

Shelly graduated from Smith Center High School in 1940. He worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation in road maintenance. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, Sylvia.

On June 7, 1941, he married Lorraine Griffith. She died Nov. 7, 1995. On May 19, 2001, he married Janice Clark in Sylvia. She survives. Other survivors include: daughters, Karen Walker and husband Gary, LuAnn Conrad and husband Doc, both of Sylvia; stepsons, Brian Godwin of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Godwin of Australia; stepdaughter, Mary Reed of Graham, Wash.; four grandchildren, Todd, Missy, Shelly, and Drew; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; seven step grandchildren; a step great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife of 54 years, Lorraine (Griffith) Shellito; daughter, Sharon Shellito; son, John Shellito.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene, 416 S. Thompson Street, Sylvia, with Pastor Roberto Ibarra officiating. Burial will take place at 4 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene or Trails West EMS, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501. Shelly was a strong Christian. He no longer has to imagine what it is like to meet Jesus. He will be greatly missed by his family.
