Eldon SteffensEldon "Butch" Steffens, 73, died Dec. 4, 2008, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born Sept. 9, 1935, in Johnson, the son of Clarence W. and Opal Leota Fulton Steffens.
A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was the owner and operator of Steffens Auto Parts since 1968.
He belonged to the First Congregational Church. He was a U.S. Navy reservist.
On Aug. 8, 1953, he married Joyce Nadine Swepston in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Terry, Derby, and Tony and wife, Kim, Wichita; a daughter, Vicki Harris and husband, Joe, St. George, Utah; two sisters, Lavada Smyth, Lyons, and Anita Childers, Greeley, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Kara Joy Steffens, Wichita, Jordan Steffens, Wichita, and Paul Steffens, Derby.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the Keith Worthington Chapter of ALS Association, in care of the mortuary.
