Eleanor C. Kale, 86, died Jan. 14, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born June 5, 1920, in Larned, the daughter of Wiley Buchanan and Mattie Dazey Compton. She graduated from Larned High School, received her bachelor's degree from Hays State Teachers College, her master's degree from Southwestern University, Weatherford, Okla., and her second master's degree from Kansas University. A resident of Hutchinson for two months, formerly of Wichita and Sun City, Ariz., she was a teacher for Wichita USD 259, retiring in 1985.
She belonged to the League of Women Voters, DAR and Beta Sigma Phi.
On Aug. 17, 1945, she married Henry W. "Hank" Kale in Mississippi. He died Aug. 4, 1965.
Survivors include: a son, Steve, Junction City, Ore.; a daughter, Terrie Kale, Hutchinson; two sisters, Zellamae Hoffman-Hood, and Gene Mount, both of Sun City West, Ariz.; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Compton.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at a later date in Larned Cemetery.
