Obituary

Elinor M. "Ellie" Dumas, 86, died Sept. 23, 2014, at her home in Hutchinson. She was born June 28, 1928, in Dodge City, to Charles E. and Marie A. (Keller) Bargdill.

Ellie graduated from Sylvia High School in 1945 and from the Chicago School of Interior Design in 1970. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Doer's Sunday School Class. Ellie volunteered at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, in the Red Cross Blood Mobile, in the hospital gift shop, and other organizations in Hutchinson.

On May 5, 1946, she married Edward L. Baar in Sylvia. He died Dec. 22, 2000. Ellie then married Henry J. "Hank" Dumas on April 3, 2003, in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 20, 2012. She is survived by son, Steve Baar, DVM, and wife Cherie of Turon; brother, Edwin Bargdill of Haysville; two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Ellie was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth Evans, Marjorie Wilkins; and a son, Douglas E. Baar.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Reno County, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
