Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Brightenburg, 83, died March 2, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born on Nov. 13, 1931, in Jetmore, to Wilbur Brice and Emma Blanche (Seybert) Proffitt.

She was a claims taker for the state of Kansas. On June 30, 1963, she married Frank W. Brightenburg in South Hutchinson. He died March 22, 1991. Survivors include: daughter, Jeri Leach and husband Bob of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Chris Starks and wife Tori of Columbia, Ky., Jennifer Self of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Nick Self and Cooper Self, both of Hutchinson, Savannah Starks and Brice Starks, both of Columbia, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
