Elizabeth H. Summers' Obituary
Elizabeth H. Summers, 95, died Nov. 14, 2007, at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers.
She was born May 6, 1912, at Hutchinson, the daughter of Charles Henry "C.H." and Elva Kathryn Burnham Humphreys. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, attended Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Mass., Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Kansas. She was a lifetime Hutchinson resident.
She belonged to Grace Episcopal Church, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, PEO Chapter BL, and was a volunteer at the former Grace Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital.
On Oct. 18, 1933, she married Charles Wright Summers in Hutchinson. He died June 18, 1989.
Survivors include: two sons, Wright S. and his wife Monte, Overland Park, and Robert C. and his wife Charlotte, Hutchinson; four granddaughters, Susan Summers, Grain Valley, Mo., Shannon Jacobson and her husband Shawn, Olathe, Elizabeth Hunt and her husband Paul, Waterford, Mich., and Cady Panetta and her husband Mike, Washington, D.C.; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Burnham and Richard Humphreys; and a sister, Margaret Wertz.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 26, 2007, at Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Michael P. Milliken presiding. Friends may sign the register at Elliott Mortuary anytime prior to the memorial service. The casket will remain closed. Private graveside services will be held in Fairlawn Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Episcopal Church, or the PEO Scholarship, both in care of the funeral home.
