LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - Elizabeth B. "Betty" Yost, 88, died Nov. 4, 2006, at John Knox Village, Lee's Summit, Mo.
She was born Jan. 16, 1918, in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Harry and Esther Nelson Basye. She graduated from high school in Webb City, Mo. A longtime Hutchinson resident, moving to Lee's Summit 10 years ago, she was a 4-H clerk at the Kansas State Fair, Reno Consumers Co-Op, Robert Danford Farm Bureau, Nash Finch Wholesale and Aubrey V. Earhart Attorney.
She belonged to Forest Park Presbyterian Church, served on the board of directors for Sunflower Day Care, Women's Civic Center and the Salt City ABWA (American Business Women's Association).
On July 5, 1947, she married Victor R. Yost. He died May 27, 1973.
Survivors include: two sons, John B. and wife, Yvonne, Kansas City, Mo., and Max B. and wife, Linda, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Eileen Basye, Columbus; and five grandchildren, Hilary Anne, Jacob, Brian, Bruce and Brad Yost. Funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Chris Davis presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
