Krehbiel
April 27, 1921 – October 16, 2022
Ella L. Krehbiel, 101, of Pretty Prairie, died peacefully and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2022, at Prairie Sunset Home with her children by her side. She was born April 27, 1921, in Pretty Prairie, to Simon and Anna (Graber) Stucky. She was a lifelong resident of the Pretty Prairie Community, and was baptized into and was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church in Pretty Prairie.
Ella married John J. Krehbiel on September 3, 1944. John passed away on October 4, 2015. Ella lived on their farm for 69 years working side by side with their dairy cow herd. Much of her life she spent working as an interior decorator, worked countless hours with John tending their large summer garden, spent 35 years assisting John as custodians of their church. She was a very accomplished seamstress and as a favorite hobby hand-sewed numerous quilts for her family and friends through-out her life. Often in her spare time she enjoyed collecting antique glassware. Some of her greatest joys were baking and cooking for her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and giving of her time to the church's Vesper sewing society.
Ella is survived by her loving family of son, Jim (Patricia) Krehbiel of Hutchinson, and daughter, Judy (Everett) Schultz of Pretty Prairie. Four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and four brothers: Clarence, Menno, Irvin, and Harold and one sister, Alvina (Milton) Wedel.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie, with Pastor James Blake officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials can be given to the First Mennonite Church and to the Prairie Sunset Home in care of Elliott Mortuary & Crematory, 1219 N Main St, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
