Elma M. Koelling, 91, died Jan. 22, 2006, at Heartland Care Center, San Antonio, Texas.
She was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Guy O. and Annie I. Misner Southerland. She was a 1933 graduate of Hutchinson High School. A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, she was a sales clerk for the former Kresses, a cook for Union Valley School and owned a cake decorating business from her home.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, was a member of Reno County Home Extension Unit and had received first place in bread baking at the Kansas State Fair.
On Sept. 25, 1940, she married George H. Koelling in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 23, 2000.
Survivors include: two daughters, Beverly Stukesbary and husband, Charles J., Ogden, Utah, and Barbara Elliott and husband, Dick, San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two nephews, Guy Riggs, Hutchinson, and Carl Riggs, Overland Park; and a niece, Nancy Stotler, Manhattan.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Riggs and Ethel Marrs; and a nephew, Larry D. Marrs.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with Pastor Gary Salmans presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holiday Inn Express.
