Elmer H. Mohr, 87, died June 28, 2010, at Hospice House. He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Nekoma, the son of Jake J. and Elizabeth Schlagel Mohr. He was a machinist for Master Machine retiring in Oct. 1987. He attended First Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, VFW Bob Campbell Post #1361 and was an Army Veteran of World War II, 11th Armored Division serving in the European Theater.
On June 21, 1942, he married Marcketta Tomlinson. He later married Pearl Nightengale Landon, July 6, 1974. She survives. Other survivors include: their children and spouses, Ray and Rita Mohr, Topeka, Sandi and Randy Moore, Nickerson, Perry and Cyndy Landon, Paula and Mark Souza, both of Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Dusty and Johnna Moore, Pretty Prairie, Daiquiri and Brent Rosen, Kansas City, Terry and Toni Landon, Noah Souza, both Hutchinson; six great-grandchildren, Cody, Landon and Samantha Moore, Turner Landon, Jessica Burke and Chase Rosen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother and an infant brother.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Stephen Taylor officiating. Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family present 6 to 7 p.m., all at Elliott Mortuary. Military honors will be conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard at Fairlawn Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice House or to First Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
