PLEVNA - Elner M. Beck, 93, died Oct. 18, 2011, at Elm Grove Estates, Wheatlands, Hutchinson. She was born April 6, 1918, near Sterling, the daughter of Bernard and Bertha Kleck Zimmerman.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Circle 1 and LWML, Quilting Guild, a 4-H leader, was a Plevna school cook for 13 years and waited tables at the South Hutchinson livestock sale barn cafeteria. On Sept. 15, 1940, she married Edward J. Beck at Salem Community Church, Nickerson. They lived on his family farm until Sept. 2000, when they moved to Elm Grove Estates.

She is survived by a son, Dale and wife Diane of Plevna; a daughter, Kay and Terry Bachus of Colo.; a sister, Doris Watts of Shawnee; a sister-in-law, Rosetta Zimmerman of Greely, Colo.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, with Keith Dellenbach officiating. Burial will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church or Hospice of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
