Eloise Gail Burson, 96 years old, graduated to glory March 13, 2011, at 11:06 Sunday night at Mt. Hope Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 25, 1915, in Atchison, the daughter of Ralph Leslie and Ethel Davis Townsend. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1933 and from Mount St. Scholastica College in 1937. After teaching high school a few years at Nortonville, KS, she married Richard Burson in 1946, and joined him in ministry to young people, founding Kansas Bible Camp together. As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, she dedicated her life to serving others and presenting the gospel to young people.
She was preceded in death by all her siblings, as well as her husband, Richard Burson, who died in January 1976.
She is survived by sons, Daniel and Stephen, and daughter, Marty Brown, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, with her grandson, Stephen Burson, presiding. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers that wither and fade, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to Kansas Bible Camp in care of the mortuary, since she gave a substantial portion of her life to that wonderful ministry. Even though she suffered from dementia the past few years, we as a family rejoice that she is now enjoying the presence of her Lord and Savior with full mental acuity and all her faculties intact.
