NICKERSON - Elsa Mae Hamby, 83, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born May 3, 1929, in Marland, Okla., to Samuel Moore and Carrie Elmedie Ferrell Bradsher.
A longtime Nickerson resident, she was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Hutchinson and a machine quilter.
On Dec. 21, 1946, she married Dillard Oat Hamby in Tonkawa, Okla. He died on April 8, 2011.
Survivors include: son, Brian Hamby and wife Doris, Hutchinson; three daughters, Cherie Kasper and husband Rick, Woodville, Ohio, Kay Nagy and husband Rich, Nickerson, Marilyn Praw and husband Mike, Rockwood, Michigan; six grandchildren, David and Stephanie Hamby, Paul and Julie Hamby, Rachel and Bruce Brown, Jeff and Jennifer Kasper, Chad and Patty King, Emily Bibb; 13 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Hamby, Preston, Kellyn and Breckyn Hamby, Asher, Lucy and Macy Brown, Kyleigh and Braden Kasper, Tristan Case, Chanel Rodriguez, and Zaden King; brother, Sam Bradsher, San Diego, Calif.; sister, Harriet Smith, Bristow, Okla.; sister-in-law, Geneva Van Meter, Enid, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Samuel M. Bradsher and Carrie Jordan; brother, Fred Van Meter; and a sister, Juanita Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2012, at First Southern Baptist Church, 1201 East 23rd Avenue, with Pastor Dale Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Elliott Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to First Southern Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of the mortuary.
