Elsie Katherine Eagles, beloved wife and mother, passed away from this world on April 18, 2007.

Elsie was born Elsie Katherine Herdt on Christmas Day 1924, in Hoisington, to John and Katherine Zimmerman Herdt. She graduated from Hoisington High School in 1942.

She married Eldon W. "Buzz" Eagles of Hoisington on June 28, 1947, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington. They had a wonderful life together. Elsie was a lifelong Lutheran and member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She also belonged to Women of the ELCA. Elsie enjoyed a very close relationship with her savior Jesus Christ. The way she lived life was testimony to her faith. During her life she brought joy, love and compassion to many.

A resident of Hutchinson since 1965, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper. Elsie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Eldon; son and daughter-in-law, Fred L. and Karen Eagles, Springfield, Mo.; and son, Dale A. Eagles of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Leona Marie Herdt, Lenora Irene Herdt, Thelma Lane, and Wilma Boyer, and three brothers, Elmer, Herman and Leonard Herdt.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hutchinson, with Pastors Loren Mai and Tim Carey presiding. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hoisington Cemetery.
