Elsie M. Schnider, 86, of Hutchinson, died May 12, 2011, at Thorne Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.

She was born Aug. 28, 1924, to Oliver Lawrence and Alice Mae Lee Beech.

She was a Hutchinson resident since 1947. She was a graduate of Lawrence, Kan., High School and the Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson. She was a homemaker and sales clerk at the former Wiley's Department Store. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

On Sept. 10, 1945, she married Melvin E. Schnider in Lawrence, Kan. He died Jan. 26, 2006.

Survivors include: son, Mike and his wife Kate of Hutchinson; daughters, Diana Major and husband David of Decorah, Iowa, Beth Luman and husband Duane, Robbie Harp, and Tammy Jordan and husband Kelly, all of Hutchinson; 10 grandchildren, Valerie Kingsbury, Megan Baughman, Renee Major, Becky Langreck, Layne Schnider, Michael Schnider, Shawn Luman, Angie Luman, Mandy Jordan and Lindsey Jordan; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Fred Beech; and two sisters, Mildred Angell and Stella Knapp.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 17th and Main Street, Hutchinson, with Reverend Jim Rhaesa officiating. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Family will receive friends prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be sent to Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
