Elva Jean Walker, 79, died Oct. 13, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Willard and Elsie Cooper Lowrey.
She grew up in Hutchinson. She and her husband lived in Olathe from 1977 to 1987, then moved back to Hutchinson in 1987. She attended Hutchinson schools. She worked at the school's cafeteria in Olathe, and later was a buyer for Pegues Department Store in the Household Department. She later retired as the manager of the cafeteria at Hutchinson High School. She was a member of Westbrook Baptist Church and American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit No. 68.
On Nov. 23, 1946, she married Wilson Hofflinger in Lyons. He died Aug. 3, 1960. She later married Sigle Walker on April 19, 1963, in Hutchinson. He died Jan. 9, 1990.
Survivors include: sons, Frank Walker, Orlando, Fla., and Fred W. Hofflinger and wife Loretta, Hutchinson; daughter, Sherry Wilk, Orlando, Fla.; brother, Jack Lowrey and wife Sue, Hoyt; sisters, Mary Lee Current, Hutchinson, and Linda Anderson and husband Gary, Hutchinson; four grandsons, Adair and Darin Dillaha, and Josh and Jake Hofflinger; and four great-granddaughters, Clara and Justine Dillaha and Sofia and Kimberly Hofflinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry Lowrey, sister, Etta Hubbard; and a great-granddaughter, Tessa Hofflinger.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday Oct. 16, 2009, at Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Bob Shelton officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
