Elvin Victor Lane, 79, died Jan. 12, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 29, 1931, in Bucklin, Kan., the son of James Thomas and Barbara Louise Eskew Lane.
Elvin graduated from Bucklin High School in 1948. He then served in the U.S. Navy. He was a longtime Hutchinson resident, the owner of Fires Out Inc., and Lectro Lane Corp. Elvin was a member of the New Jerusalem Church in Pretty Prairie and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite. On Sept. 24, 1971, he married Veneta Zacharias in Pretty Prairie. She survives. He was previously married to Ione Elliott. She died June 2, 1970.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mike Lane and wife Sharon of Excelsior, Minn., Gary Lane and wife Jennifer of Lenexa; three daughters, Jera French and husband Steve of Buhler, Tenley Hannah and husband Jason of Avondale, Ariz., Alison Lane-Olsen and husband Adam of Hutchinson; two sisters, Maxine Cecil of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, Betty Speer of Bucklin; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with daughter, Rev. Alison Lane-Olsen presiding. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County or New Jerusalem Church in care of the mortuary.
