Elza Louise Collins

Elza Louise Collins, 89, died Aug. 27, 2010, at Golden Living Nursing Home Frederick, Maryland.


She was born April 4, 1921, in Bono, Arkansas, the daughter of Sella Cleveland and Elza Octavia Tooley.

She married Junior "Ray" Collins on Sep. 25, 1942, in Delaplaine, Ark. He passed away March 16, 2003. Louise became a Christian at an early age. She was baptized with her husband Ray at Old Manor Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. She moved with her family to Hutchinson, Kan., in 1972 and joined the Westbrook Baptist Church where she was a member for 33 years.

In 2004, she moved to Frederick, Maryland and made her home with her son and family. She was a homemaker and a partner in her husband's businesses.

Survivors include: a son, Dr. Jack Collins and wife, Dr. Yanni Wang of Frederick, Maryland; a sister, Mary Lawson of Wichita, Kan; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother and two sisters.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sep. 4, 2010, at Westbrook Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastors Bob Shelton and Andy Addis presiding. Friends may call 12 to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Memorials may be made to Westbrook Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
