Emanuel T. "Tim" Sauber, 79, died Dec. 22, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
He was born April 12, 1932, in Raymond, Kan., the son of Peter M. and Frances (Hoffman) Sauber.
He was a 1950 graduate of Ellinwood High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a 2nd class electrician. Emanuel retired from Cessna after 34 years as an industrial engineer and then worked for Trinity Jr. and Sr. High School for 20 years. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, and was a cub master and scout master for Troop #303 for 17 years. Emanuel loved golfing, fishing and working on his lawn.
On May 18, 1957, he married Bettie A. Anderson at St. Joseph Church in Ellinwood, Kan. She survives.
Other survivors include: four sons, Ronald, Brian and Gary Sauber, all of Wichita, and Darold Sauber of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, James Sauber of Ellinwood, Kan.; nine grandchildren and a step grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Huslig; two brothers, Lawrence and Ambrose Sauber; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Sauber.
Parish rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, with Mass of Christian Burial to be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, all at Church of the Holy Cross, with Father Joseph Eckberg presiding. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with military honors by the US Naval Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House or to the church, in care of the mortuary.
