Emma Gehring, 83, died Nov. 5, 2006 at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Sept. 26, 1923 at Pretty Prairie, the daughter of Tobias and Frances Graber Schrag. A lifetime resident of the Hutchinson area, she was a homemaker
She belonged to First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, was a volunteer for Et Cetera Shop, took worship service tapes to Pleasant View Nursing Home in Inman and was a Sunday School Bible teacher.
On Nov. 16, 1956 she married Jacob Emil "Jake" Gehring in Pretty Prairie. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Steven Gehring and wife LaDonna, McPherson; two daughters, Shirley Peterman and husband Art, Coffeyville and Jackie Adelhardt and husband Larry, Partridge; a brother, Joseph Schrag; three sisters, Esther Albright, Bess Huxman and Elaine Krehbiel; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Adelhardt; three brothers, Erwin, Elmer and Walter Schrag; and a sister, Ida Schrag.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at First Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, with Pastors Debbie Schmidt and Miles Reimer. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in the Buhler Municipal Cemetery East.
