Erma "Jean" Bryson, 81, died peacefully Sept. 3, 2010, at McPherson Care Center, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born December 1, 1928, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Isaiah Lemuel "Lem" and Stella Fay Gardner Huston.
A lifetime resident of Hutchinson, she was a cake decorator working for Dillons, and then owning her own business, Jean's Cakes.
On March 18, 1945, she married Lloyd E. Bryson in Hutchinson.
She is survived by: her husband of 65 years, Lloyd E. Bryson; four sons, Jim Bryson and wife Mitzi of Bossier City, LA, Bill Bryson and Diane Varanelli of Sacramento, CA, Michael Bryson and wife Lynn of McPherson, Dan Bryson and wife Melissa of Hutchinson; two sisters, Dorce Stapleton and Irene "Vada" Wood, both of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Arletta Reid.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Victor Halfmoon presiding. Friends may call Sunday 5-9 and Monday 9-9 with family to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the McPherson Memorial Hospital for the benefit of the Chemotherapy Room.
