Erma June Matzen Hirst's Obituary
PARTRIDGE - Erna June Matzen Hirst, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.
She was born June 29, 1929, at Buffalo, Wyo., the daughter of Christian and Florence McDaniel Matzen.
She was a member of the VFW, St. Helen's, Oregon, Myrtle Rebekah Lodge #28, PNG and PDDP Reno #32, L.E.A., P.E.M. and P.T., Central Kansas #211 L.A.M.P. and P.P., past treasurer Deputy Assoc. L.F.P.M. of Kansas, past president Dept. Assoc. of L.A.M.P. of Kansas. June was a homemaker.
On Oct. 20, 1945, she married John Robert "Bob" Hirst in Buffalo, Wyo.
She is survived by: her children, Christina Carroll of Hutchinson, John and his wife Bobbie of Holyrood; sister, Adeline Jacobs of Oregon; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on May 19, 2008; three brothers, Melvin, Sonny and Buddy Matzen; and a sister, Dorothy Place.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Partridge Community Church, with Reverend R. Samuel Askew officiating. Burial with Rebekah rites will be in Partridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
