Ernest E. 'Ernie' Unruh, 89, of Wichita, died January 9, 2019, at Via Christi-St. Francis, Wichita.  He was born October 3, 1929, in McPherson, to Bernard and Martha (Jantz) Unruh.

Ernie graduated from Burrton High School in 1947 and attended Wichita State University.  He served four years in the United States Air Force as a tech sergeant.  Ernie retired after 38 years of service from Boeing as an electrical engineer.  He enjoyed working puzzles and could fix anything.  Ernie was a true perfectionist.

On June 28, 1957, he married Susanne Munds in Okmulgee, OK.  She died February 13, 2008, after sharing 50 years of marriage.

Ernie is survived by:  daughters, Brenda K. Chevalier of Bellingham, WA, Sandy Hume and husband Randy of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Travis and wife Cindy, Tyler, Tara and husband Marc, Austin; and great-grandchildren, Ava, Dagny, Gunner, Ainsley, Brayden, Benjamin; and siblings, Verda Hoskinson and husband Dick, Elvera Pitsch and husband Jerry, Allen Unruh and wife Teresa, Violet Sipes and husband Vince.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Vern Unruh; and sister, Margaret Unruh.

Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Burrton Cemetery, with Pastor Dale Kauffman officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
