Ernie R. Wiens' Obituary
Ernie R. Wiens, 85, died Aug. 10, 2006, at his home, Hutchinson.
He was born July 28, 1921, in Inman, the son of Henry D. and Katie Regehr Wiens. A resident of Hutchinson, he was a carpenter.
He belonged to the American Quarterhorse Association.
On Feb. 12, 1984, he married Shirley A. Stephens in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, John, Oklahoma, and Jeff, Kansas; a daughter, Jan Stephens, Kansas; a brother, Edwin "Dick," Kansas; four sisters, Ella Hanul, Kathryn Mitchell, Susan Mitchell and Betty Warkentin, all of Kansas; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin "Pete" and Wilbur "Web"; and two sisters, Mary Ann Froese and Helen Willems.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Vic Butler and Chaplain Melvin Walton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in North Inman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of the mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
