Ervin J. Miller, 94, of Partridge, died Oct. 29, 2012, at his home. Ervin was born July 4, 1918, at Thomas, Okla., the son of Joseph J. and Josephine Miller.
He attended schools in Custer County, Okla., and was a retired farmer and seedsman, having established Miller Seed Farms in 1947. Ervin was a member of the Center Amish Mennonite Church. He was a former member and was active in the Kansas Crop Improvement Association.
Ervin married Mary Martha Nisly on Dec. 18, 1941, in Hutchinson. Mary Martha died Aug. 19, 2007. Survivors include: five sons, Glenn Leon Miller and wife Anna of Hutchinson, Harold Dean Miller and wife Ruth of Honey Grove, Pa., LaVerne Miller and wife Rebecca of Partridge, Marvin Miller and wife Ruth of Suceava, Romania, and Loren Miller and wife Dolores of Canon City, Colo.; two daughters, Alma Miller and husband Edward of Partridge, and Lillian Nisly and husband Arthur of San Salvador, El Salvador; 48 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren. Ervin was preceded in death by infant twins, Paul Jay and Pauline May Miller; five grandchildren, Paul Miller, Kari and Evie Nisly, and Jared and Grant Miller; and two brothers, Ezra J. Miller, and Amos J. Miller.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Center Amish Mennonite Church. Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at West Center Cemetery, near Partridge. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Homecare of Reno County, sent in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
