Esther R. Neighbors' Obituary
Esther R. Neighbors, 83, died Jan. 31, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Cass Lake, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Katherine "Katie" Gobbitz DeWitt. A resident of Hutchinson since 1953, she was the owner and operator of LTD Upholstery.
In 1953, she married David J. Neighbors in Clovis, N.M. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Jeffrey and wife, Christine, Hutchinson; a daughter, Suzanne Coker and husband, Daniel, Wichita; four brothers, Harold DeWitt, Philadelphia, Donald DeWitt, Ellinwood, Lewis DeWitt, Great Bend, and Vernon DeWitt, Iowa; three sisters, Elverna Dawson, Philadelphia, Barbara Hinkemeyer, Cass Lake, Minn., and Leila Smith, Sterling, Colo.; five grandchildren, Jeff, Jr., and Kelton Neighbors, Jason Scates, Abby Jo Coker, and Gabriel Coker; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan, Brock, Emma, Emily, and Isaac.
She was preceded in death by a son, David J. Neighbors Jr.; two brothers, Art and Leslie DeWitt; and a sister, Lucy DeWitt.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
