Obituary

Ethel Luella Brown, 91, died Jan. 6, 2009, at Deseret Healthcare, Hutchinson.

She was born May 25, 1917, in Meade County, the daughter of Clarence A. and Myrtle T. Quick McQueen. As a teenager, Ethel was saved and consequently she served the Lord for the rest of her life. She worked in the business offices of Hutchinson Clinic, and previously in the office of Gage Hall Clinic.

She belonged to Temple Baptist Church. She was a volunteer organist and pianist at the church for over 50 years.

On March 15, 1936, she married Frank Edwin Brown in Kinsley. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, the Rev. Mel Brown and wife Barbara, Springfield, Mo.; a daughter, E. Joan Wicks and husband David, Hutchinson; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two step-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde, George, and Everett McQueen, and Lester Simpson.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday Jan. 9, 2009, at Temple Baptist Church, with Pastor Willard Stafford, and the Rev. Mel Brown presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
