OCEAN SHORES, Wash. - Ethel Lou Forney, of Ocean Shores, Wash., passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011.
Lou was born April 3, 1924, in Hugoton, Kan., the daughter of Fred and Ethel Petersen Koblitz.
She received her degree from the St. Francis School of Nursing and entered the nursing profession. Lou married Donald Earl Forney in Sterling, Kan., June 20, 1948, and they remained happily together until Don's passing on July 21, 2000.
Lou was a woman of great faith and an active life-long member of the Methodist Church. She gave generously of her time to a variety of volunteer organizations. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed crafts, camping, and travel. Her expressive eyes and sweet smile made her a favorite of the wonderful staff of the Weatherly Inn in Covington, Wash., where she spent the final seven years of her life. Lou will be greatly missed by her son, Don, daughter-in-law, Dale, and granddaughters, Alison and Angela, all of Maple Valley, Wash.; she is survived as well, by sisters, Velma Alder of Ocean Shores, Wash., Joan Proffitt and Polly Bradford of Sterling, Leva Lloyd of Nevada, Mo., and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Burial Park.
