Obituary

Ethel B. Krug, 91, died May 18, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was born June 14, 1924, at the family farm south of Partridge, the daughter of Henry and Millie Olga (Massoni) Koestel.

Ethel graduated from Partridge High School in 1943. A South Hutchinson resident from 1949 to 2016, she worked for the Dillons stores, American Optical Co., Hutchinson Bag Co., Zephyr Manufacturing Company, and was a homemaker.

Throughout her life, Ethel enjoyed the outdoors and working in her yard. She most enjoyed caring for her lawn and planting flowers. In later years, watching the birds brought her much pleasure. One of her many virtues was that of being a wonderful cook for her family. Among the things Ethel most loved over the years was her hobby of sewing for her daughters and herself.

On April 27, 1945, she married Robert J. Krug in Hutchinson. He died Sept. 19, 1998. Survivors include: daughters, Janice Tuxhorn (Boyd Rostine) of South Hutchinson, Peggy Augustine (Pat) of Hutchinson; sister, Evelyn Myers of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Tammy Kuntz (Todd) of Abilene, Rob Jones (Darci) of Nickerson, Jeff Tuxhorn (Jennifer) of Houston, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Mabel Ball, Irene Hirst, Annabell Conrad, Dorothy Covert, Viola Bontrager; brothers, Clifford, Robert, and Albert Koestel; and infant brother, Walter Koestel.

A private family graveside service will be held at Partridge Cemetery, Partridge, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
