Eugene William “Gene” Morris, 77, died September 22, 2026, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born December 17, 1948, in Hutchinson, to Wilma Jean Morris and Kenneth E. Woodson.

Gene graduated from Hutchinson High School and The Way College of Emporia. He also served in the United States Army. Gene worked in construction.

Gene is survived by: his son, Ishmael Morris and his family of Wichita; twin-brother, Dene Morris of Hutchinson; and numerous cousins and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean (Morris) Green and father, Kenneth E. Woodson.

Entombment will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in the Eastside Mausoleum, 500 S. Cleveland, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and  Saturday, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday and 9:00 to 5:00 Monday at Elliott Mortuary.
