Obituary

Eunice Ella Elliott, 97, died February 12, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born December 12, 1917, in rural Republic County, KS, to Anthony and Pearl (Persinger) Gritten.

She graduated from Salt City Business College with a business degree and went on to work in the Navy Department of Affairs in Washington D.C. Eunice also worked as a switchboard operator in Nebraska, for the Postal service in Scandia, and as a nanny in California before partnering with her husband on the family farm. Eunice enjoyed gardening both flowers as well as vegetables. She was an avid bingo player and loved a good sudoku puzzle. She married Norris Elliott on August 18, 1943. He died on December 30, 2002.

Survivors include: her sons, Rodney Elliott and wife Billie, Hutchinson, and Eddie Elliott and wife May, Kingman; daughter, Linda Kaufman and husband Ron, Hutchinson; grandson, Chip Elliott and wife Kate, San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Heather Woods, Mt. Hope; and great-grandchildren, William and Gage Badders and Megan Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Dale, Emerson, and Warren Gritten, sister, Irene Keeler, son-in-law, William Badders, and a grandson, Brian Badders.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Larry Wedel presiding. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, rural Kingman County. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to Dillon Nature Center, The Arthritis Foundation, or to Corner Stone Baptist Church, all in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
