Eunice L. Pankow, 86, died Oct. 28, 2005, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born July 10, 1919, in rural Haven, the daughter of Orla and Marie Nicklaus Koontz. She graduated from Haven High School and Adela Hale Business College. A lifetime Reno County resident, she was the business manager for the Hutchinson Public Library for 26 years, retiring in 1984, then joined her husband in the home improvement business, All Weather Products, and then Snacks R Us business for five years.
She belonged to Community Church of the Brethren, Soroptimist Club, and received first place in several Reno County spelling bee's.
On April 20, 1940, she married William "Bill" Pankow in Haven. He died Jan. 11, 1997.
Survivors include: a son, Daniel, Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Tonia Alford, Hutchinson; a sister, Orlene Graves, Sedalia, Mo.; four grandsons, Clifton D. Alford, Kent Mettelman, Jason Hart and Brad Pankow; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Earl and Daryn "Bud" Koontz; and a son-in-law, Dean Alford.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Church of the Brethren, with Randy Beeghly presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Community Church of the Brethren, in care of the funeral home.
