PLEVNA - Evelyn J. Davisson, 80, died Jan. 6, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
She was born near Plevna, Kan. on March 14, 1929, the daughter of Floyd and Otilla Nusser Wright.
On Feb. 27, 1948, she married Clare Davisson, Jr. They were married for 61 years. They lived on the same farm for 60 years near Plevna. She was a graduate of Plevna High School Class of '47. She was mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Evelyn worked for District 310 for 18 years as a baker in the Fairfield High School cafeteria. Evelyn was active in the Plevna Community Bible Church as a pianist for 25 years. She played piano for Junior Choir, taught Sunday School, Bible School, 4-H Project Leader, active in the PTA, and a piano accompanist for students for music contests.
Evelyn is survived by: her husband, Clare; children, Peggy Dickinson, Jan and Cliff Wray, Hutchinson, Larry and wife LuWana Davisson, Vicky Rumford, Jean and Steve Schweizer, Plevna, and Kay and Jack Farney, Sterling; brother, Ray Wright, Holton; sisters, Norma Tucker, Hutchinson, Morene Havercroft, Goddard, and Gloria Bartley, Haven; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathy Vaughn.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Plevna Community Bible Church with Pastor David E. Green and Dr. Alva F. Goossen presiding. Her casket will remain closed. Friends may sign her register book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Friday at Elliott Mortuary & Crematory, Hutchinson.
