Evelyn "Shortie" Lynn, 96, died March 11, 2010.
She was born March 1, 1914, in Dodge City, the daughter of John Bernard and Lena Margaret Koch McFadden.
She was an Avon representative for over 45 years, a Red Cross volunteer, Girl Scout Leader for many years, including the First President for Wheatbelt Girl Scout Council, Director of Camp Hazen, Salt Shakers Camping Club, life member Order of Eastern Star Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464 with over 50 years of service, and a member of Park Place Christian Church. She loved the outdoors and camping, scouting, selling Avon, basketball, knitting, reading, her little dog Pixie and chocolate pie! She was a 1932 graduate of Hutchinson High School.
She was married to Floyd W. "Bud" Morris. He died Dec. 4, 1959. Then on April 21, 1961, she married Robert Nathan Lynn at Glover, Oklahoma. He died May 19, 1982.
She is survived by: a daughter, Billie Bookless, Overland Park; two granddaughters, Terri Bookless, Overland Park, and Kerri West, Arvada, Colo.; a grandson, Tod Bookless, Tukwila, Wash.; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Rex Bookless; two brothers, John and Charles McFadden; sister, Dorothy England; grandson, Corky Bookless; and a great- granddaughter.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary. Order of Eastern Star Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464 will conduct Eastern Star rites. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
