Evelyn Mae Siegrist, 80, died Oct. 26, 2007, at the Good Samaritan Center.
She was born March 14, 1927, in Garden City, the daughter of John E. and Dorothy Dodd Loeppke. She graduated in 1944 from Langdon High School, and then graduated from Sterling and Emporia State College. A longtime Sterling community resident, moving to Hutchinson in 2004, she was an elementary school teacher for 27 years, mainly at school district 309, North Reno and Mitchell schools, retiring in 1994.
She belonged to the Christian Church, Langdon, was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the P.E.O Chapter Q, Nickerson. She was a devoted teacher, wonderful mother, grandmother and loving wife. She loved music and was a talented saxophonist.
On Jan. 7, 1951, she married Richard "Dick" Siegrist in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Janet Hilgers and husband, Richard, Ogallah, and Jennifer Scofield and husband, Bill, Wichita; two brothers, Glen Loeppke and wife, Roxanne, Shell Knob, Mo., and Gene Loeppke, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Julie Hanschu and husband, Jeff, McPherson, Randy Hilgers, Ellis, and Ricky Hilgers, Ogallah; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Evelyn Hanschu, McPherson.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Loren Loeppke.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott Chapel, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Eric Zacharias presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Lerado Cemetery.
