Obituary

Evelyn E. Winkler, 85, died Jan. 31, 2011, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

She was born May 3, 1925, the daughter of John LeRoy and Sylvia Lucinda Cripe Strohm.

A graduate of Little River High School in 1941, she was a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ and the EHU.

On Sept. 11, 1945, she married Bill Allen Winkler in Hutchinson. He died July 7, 2000.

Survivors include: two sons, Steve Winkler and wife Kathy, Hutchinson, Brad Winkler and wife June, Phoenix, Arizona; a brother, LeRoy Strohm, Sebring, Florida; two sisters, Verna Mae Smith, Little River, and Zeta Wymore, Sherburn, Minnesota; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Iva Myers, and a grandson, Jon Winkler.

Service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in Fairlawn Burial Park Mausoleum with Jimie-Wray Mead presiding. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Maude Carpenter Children's Home, in care of the mortuary.
