Obituary

E.Z. "Easy" Fortune, 86, died April 2, 2009, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.

He was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Lucas, the son of Roy H. and Eva B. Barr Fortune. He was a 1941 graduate of Hutchinson High School. A long time Hutchinson resident, he was an auditor for the State of Kansas.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361, Silver Leaf Chapter #464 Order of East Star, Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. and A.M., and Forty and Eight. He served in the U.S. Navy.

On May 2, 1989, he married Doris C. Cline in Lyons. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Jerry D. Fortune, Golden, Colo., and Jay A. Fortune and wife Linda, Littleton, Colo.; daughter, June A. Davis, Crystal River, Fla.; stepson, Rod Adkinson and wife Donna, Hutchinson; stepdaughter, Penny Lesley and husband Jon, Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Keith Fortune, Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alden and Arnold Fortune.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
