F. Harrison "Harry" Stansel, 88, died Oct. 16, 2010, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in McPherson, to William Bridgens and Rose Frances Barna Stansel. He graduated from Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Community College. He was a retired design engineer of 37 years from Krause Plow Corp. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Wesley Weds Sunday School Class, Life member of American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, Sons of The American Revolution, former member Loyal Order of Moose #982, Serendipity Good Sams Camping Club, Hutchinson Symphony and charter member Hutchinson, Water Sports Club. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1942-1945 served on the U.S.S. Clytie submarine tender, stationed in Australia.
On Sept. 6, 1942, he married Beatrice E. (Elaine) "Bea" Gross in Pawnee Rock, Ks. She died March 20, 2004. Survivors include: a son, Lynn E. Stansel and wife Pamala L. (Thompson), Hutchinson; a brother, John Stansel and wife Ona, Arizona; sisters, Lenore Postier, Inman and Louise Mendenhall and husband, Ken, Colorado; two grandchildren, Andrew L. Stansel and Malinda S. "Susie" Rohloff and husband Joe both of Hutchinson; and four great-grandchildren, Quinn M., Xander L., Dru N. and Derek J. Rohloff.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Alan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jeanine I. Rishel officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church Children's Ministry Fund, in care of the mortuary.
