Faith I. Kern's Obituary
Faith I. Kern, 94, died Oct. 24, 2009, at her home in South Hutchinson.
She was born July 22, 1915, in Logan, KS, to Roy W. and Ida B. Siegrist Wallgren. She graduated from Logan High School in 1934.
On April 11, 1949, she married Gene L. Kern in Bartlesville, Okla. He died Oct. 28, 1983.
From 1972 to 1994, Faith was an instructor at Body Boutique Fitness Center in Hutchinson. She also taught yoga classes for nine years for Hutchinson Recreation Commission. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hutchinson.
Survivors include: stepson, Dr. Robert Gene Kern, Palm Harbor, Fla.; brother, Leonard Wallgren, Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Elsie Sieg, Ottawa, and Lola Binns, Denver; a niece, Janet Griffin, Grand Junction, Colo.; a step-granddaughter; and a step-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Mader and Pauline Harding, and a stepson Jack E. Kern.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Seth Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be sent to the church, or Hospice of Reno County, both in care of the mortuary.
