Obituary

Fannie Marlena Denney, 93, died April 28, 2010, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.

She was born March 3, 1917, in Ingersoll, Okla., to William and Anna Goeken Beck.

She graduated from Copeland High School in 1936 and attended Dodge City Junior College. A Hutchinson resident since 1942, she was an Avon saleslady for 21 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Couples Sunday School Class in Hutchinson. She volunteered for the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and belonged to RSVP, AARP #2899, American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit #68, Jefferson Jones Extension Unit and the Wheatheart Camping Club.

On Oct. 23, 1938, she married Elbert E. Denney of Copeland. He died Oct. 2, 1993.

Survivors include: two sons, James E. and wife Nancy, Weeki Wachee, Fla., and John W. and wife Kathy, Hutchinson; brother, Joseph Beck, Kechi; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Beck.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Wayne Pittman presiding. Private burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Wesley Towers Good Samaritan Fund or Hospice Care of Kansas, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
