Faye S. Abildgaard, 86, died April 11, 2013, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Hutchinson, to Edward and Mary (Davis) Smith.
A 1944 graduate of Hutchinson High School, she was a member of the Alumni Association. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. On Feb. 11, 1955, Faye married John K. Abildgaard in Hutchinson. He died May 21, 2005. She was an Executive Administrative Assistant, retiring in 1989 from Security Pacific Financial Services, after working for 46 years. Faye was Worthy Matron of Acacia Chapter #37 in 1979. She later became a member of the Silver Leaf Chapter #464 Order of Eastern Star and the High Twelve Club. Faye's other memberships included Altrusa International and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit #68.
Survivors include: son, Walt Abildgaard and his wife Lou of Hutchinson; daughter, Jane Abildgaard of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Phyllis Hoover and husband David of Hutchinson, John Abildgaard and wife Denise of Illinois, Shelly Bird and husband Doug of Colwich, and Miles Everhart of Hutchinson; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey Howell, Devon Everhart, Jordyn Bird, and Hunter Bird. Faye was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Gene Bayless; and niece, Marsha Bayless.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Reverend Amy Dame officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and the family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
