Fern M. Nelson's Obituary
NICKERSON - Fern M. Nelson, 83, of Nickerson, Kan., died Sept. 28, 2010, at Elm Grove Estates, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Abbyville, Kan., to Wilbert A. and Edith M. Wiley Krauter.
She was a lifetime resident of Nickerson and a graduate of Nickerson High School. She was a retired food service employee with the Nickerson Public Schools and also worked at Berridge's IGA in Nickerson and the Dillons and Safeway Stores in Hutchinson. She was a member of Salem Community Church of the Brethren.
She married Virgil M. Nelson April 7, 1946. He survives.
Other survivors include: daughters, Brenda Johnson, and Kathy and husband Roger Theede, all of Nickerson; a sister, Vera Sanderson, Hutchinson; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ray Johnson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at the Salem Community Church of the Brethren, Nickerson, with Pastor George D. Hinton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
