Fern Florence Moots, 92, of Hutchinson, died May 29, 2025, at Dove Estates in Goddard. She was born July 16, 1932, in Fowler, to Everett Michael and Dorothy S. (Fettis) Carr.

Fern graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1950. She was a Group Manager of Operator Service at Southwestern Bell Telephone/AT&T for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. Fern loved spending time with her grandkids, playing cards and games, and enjoyed bowling. She was of the Christian faith.

On December 13, 1953, Fern married William K. "Bill" Moots, in Hutchinson. He died December 28, 1995.

She is survived by: her children, Loretta Horn (Larry) of Holland, MI, Kay McCurry of Wichita, Ray Moots of Haven; grandchildren, Justin McCurry (Erin) of Kansas City, KS, Christy Ewing (James) of Manassas, VA, Grady McCurry of Wichita, Lisa Jones (Ryan) of Byron Center, MI, Kami McGrew (Chris) of Mulvane, Kylee Solan (Brett) of Wichita, McKenzie Jeffrey (Shane) of Haven, Colton Moots (Nicole) of Haven; 11 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

Fern was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Bill; sisters, Katherine Ewing, Shirley Gibson, Georgia Murray, and Davida Hedger.

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.

The service will be livestreamed and the link to view it will be active at 1:15 p.m. the day of the service.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
