Fern M. Nelson's Obituary
Fern M. Nelson, 93, died Nov. 10, 2009, at Golden Plains Health Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born March 15, 1916, in Columbus, Kan., to Lyle J. and Mary May Tabler Souder.
A Hutchinson resident since 1952, she was a homemaker and a previous owner of the Anchor Inn. She also cleaned houses.
On Jan. 17, 1948, she married John H. Nelson in Columbus. He died June 23, 2001. Fern is survived by five sons, Maurice and Larry Guy, John R., Marvin, and Harold Nelson, all of Hutchinson; a sister, Claudina Cox, Leavenworth, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Guy; daughter, Mary Martens; two sisters, Agnes Riggs and Helen Restivo.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Sara Davis Blodgett officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
