Fern M. Smyth's Obituary
Fern M. Smyth, 89, died Jan. 16, 2006, at St. Luke's South Hospital, Overland Park.
She was born March 13, 1916, in Winfield, the daughter of Benjamin F. and Lulu E. Fry Miller. She was a graduate of Winfield High School. A resident of Hutchinson for 48 years, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of Xeta Gamma Chapter - Phi Beta Psi Sorority and a Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer.
On Aug. 15, 1942, she married Virgil H. Smyth in Cowley County. He died May 19, 1988.
Survivors include: two daughters, Judith Gillissen, Lenexa, and Janet L. Penka, Perrysburg, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Nick Warner presiding. Friends may sign the book from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
